MINUTES OF THE YC-AFT LOCAL 4952 EXECUTIVE BOARD

December 13, 2004

I. The meeting of the executive board of Yuba College-American Federation of Teachers Local 4952 was called to order by President Jim Kitchen at 12:00pm. in Williams, CA.

Those present were Jim Kitchen, Dave Althausen, Dan Salamone, Tom Marquette, and Doug Harris. Jeff Freitas of CFT was also present.

II. Election:

Ballots of the YCAFT Local 4952 2004 Election were tabulated with the following results:

For President -- Dan Salamone 39 votes All others 0 votes

For Vice President -- Dave Althausen 39 votes All others 0 votes

For Treasurer -- Lynda Peters 37 votes All others 0 votes

For Secretary -- Doug Harris 38 votes All others 0 votes

Terms of office begin January 1, 2005.

Seven membership applications were received with ballots and will be compared against current members.

III. Negotiations

Dave reported on a meeting with Al Alt who stated he was interested in parity for adjunct, a policy for starting adjunct with experience above the first step of the salary scale, office hours and preparation space for adjunct. He also mentioned wanting to return to payment based on actual numbers of instruction hours in a semester rather than the current system of "design hours." Jim will continue to serve on the negotiation committee. Jeff will attend negotiations with the district as well. A schedule of weekly negotiation meetings has been set beginning 1/20/05 through 3/31/05. The negotiations team will meet earlier in the day 1/20/05.

IV. Academic Senate

Dan Salamone was elected to the district Academic Senate.

V. Next meeting will be at noon January 8, 2005 in Woodland, CA.
