MINUTES OF THE YC-AFT LOCAL 4952 EXECUTIVE BOARD,
January 8, 2005
I. The meeting of the executive board of Yuba College-American Federation of Teachers, Local 4952 was called to order by President Dan Salamone at 12:35pm. in Woodland, CA. Those present were Dan Salamone, Dave Althausen, and Doug Harris. Jeff Freitas of CFT was also present.
II. Motion to Approve minutes of YCAFT meetings held 12/11/04 in Williams and 11/13/04 in Clearlake made and seconded. Motioned carried.
III. Jeff presented information about a Human Rights Conference in LA February 11 and 12, 2005, and the State Federation convention in Manhattan Beach in March 2005.
Jeff also noted that CFT intends to talk to unaffiliated instructors at community colleges regarding affiliating with AFT. This includes Yuba full-time faculty. Jeff gave assurance that we would be consulted before this commenced.
IV. Negotiation will begin 1/20/05. Compensation will be addressed, as will be placement of new hires on steps based on experience; payroll remaining based on design hours; including parity pay in regular payroll rather than yearly disbursement; adjunct faculty paid preparation prep time/office hours and office space. Other issues that may be used tactically include distance learning classes; health insurance; binding arbitration.
V. Next meeting will be at noon February 26 at 9:00AM in Marysville, CA.
VI. Meeting adjourned at 1:40pm.
